HEALTHY Tekoa News!December’s FREE Family Night Out is sure to be a festive evening. Back by popular demand is Caroling! All ages and all voices welcome. Join us at the Tekoa Empire Theatre on Saturday, December 21, at 4:30 p.m., to sing carols to our neighbors. Afterwards, warm up with hot cocoa and apple cider as you watch A Christmas Carol, which starts at 6 p.m. A parent is required for youth to attend. Family Night Out events’ focus is strengthening the bonds between students and community…and school… and family. Increasing a young person’s bond to school, community, and family can help him/her get better grades, have higher test scores, and make that person less likely to have emotional distress, drink or use drugs.

City of Tekoa Earns Risk Management Award: The AWC Risk Management Service Agency (RMSA) is a municipal risk pool protecting the employees, assets, and officials of Washington’s cities, towns, and special purpose districts. We strive to solve problems before they happen and protect your future when they do. At the RMSA Annual Meeting, RSMA recognizes the risk management efforts of our members. There are three different award categories, but each one acknowledges the hard work and dedication our members put into proactively managing their risks and keeping their community safe. The daily operations of running a city or town are complex, but actively managing risks helps keep Tekoa running effectively, efficiently, and promotes stronger, more resilient communities. AWC RMSA commends Tekoa for its dedication to good risk management practices.
Messages from the Mayor~
Merry Christmas, Tekoa! This is my favorite time of year…. The mornings are crisp, the snow is about to fall (actually, it already fell…. in September of this year), and it’s time to slow down and visit with family and friends. With that said, I’m going to go visit with my family and friends. This month’s message is short and sweet:
Enjoy your holidays. Have a cup of coffee (or eggnog) with your friends and loved ones. Remember the real reason for the season!
Now, get outside. Hold your favorite person’s hand and go for a walk. Look at the Christmas trestle lights! (YES! That’s happening AGAIN!) Life is too short to miss out on that!
Wow this year went by fast. Time to take a minute or two...or five…and reflect on what’s really important in life.
I wish all the best for you and yours,
Again, Merry Christmas!
